Today's Snowflake Challenge is to create a wishlist of three things you'd love to receive.

Asking for what I want is definitely a challenge...here goes: I'm pretty mono-fannish, in a small fandom for a show that came out ten years ago. I joined DW for much the same reason as I joined AO3, because I was looking for more content about Sense8 and wanted to connect with people who were still interested in it. So I guess the short answer for what I want is MORE. Creation, engagement, connection.

Come at me with theories or headcanons, fave characters or fave scenes. Rec some works you created or enjoyed, tell me about WIPs and I'll encourage you to continue them or help you brainstorm. If anyone really wants to go all out and create something for me, first off I love you. Second, my faves are Wolfgang/Kala/Rajan, Wolfgang & Felix, or the cluster doing cluster things. I have general likes and DNWs in my Dear Creator post for the recent holiday exchange, or you can view my works on Ao3 for ideas. I'd prefer having a discussion about transformative works ahead of time if that's more of your thing. You can DM me as well. I'm always up for chatting about Sense8 and I am happy to encourage anyone to create more fanworks. 

Snowflake Challenge #3: Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.

I wasn't sure I was going to do this particular challenge since I'm relatively new to participating in fandom and have spent most of my time lurking, but here goes:

For Sense8:
Several years ago I was rewatching a show I'd enjoyed when it aired but never got especially invested in, and between some pretty scary health issues, moving to a new place that was hours away from all my friends, and my soul dog passing away, I was in a bad place mentally. Sense8 brought me comfort in a way that nothing else has. It hasn't really left my Continue Watching row since. As soon as it's over I inevitably put it back on, whether that's to watch certain scenes again as research for fanfiction, or just to cheer myself up.

The fandom is unexpectedly small, and having basically scrolled to the end of the tag on tumblr, I was so desperate for new content I started writing again for the first time in about eight years. I'd long since given up on the idea of writing again. I was totally burnt out, and despite searching for a creative outlet to help with my depression, I was adamant that writing wouldn't be it. 40+ fics later, I'm participating in challenges on AO3 and posting here on Dreamwidth.

The show is all about connection at the end of the day, and it's never been more important than it is now. I'm grateful to the other fans I've connected with, and grateful to the creators for making something that resonates no matter how small the fandom is now.

The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it. 

I'm MerricatB, and this is my first time participating. I guess I'm looking to interact more with people with similar interests. I'm relatively new to Dreamwidth and the fandom scene and primarily interested in Sense8 (fanfic, videos, whatever you've got for me I'm desperate for content--if you're into Sense8 come talk to me, I will never shut up about it). Other things I'm into to a lesser extent are Interview with the Vampire (AMC), Our Flag Means Death, Hannibal (NBC), writing in general and fanfic specifically, LGBT rights, dunking on this idiotic country (USAmerican unfortuantely).
